    OI CHING CHAN | Artistic Director

    London-based Hong Kong conductor Oi Ching CHAN is known for her compelling presence and calm authority on the podium. Oi Ching currently serves as the Artistic Director of New London Harmonia. She is also a member of the Royal Philharmonic Society's Women's WoCo Gateshead programme, an affiliation with the Royal Northern Sinfonia at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. 

    Oi Ching has collaborated with orchestras worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on stages graced by the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Orchestre Métropolitain, Sofia Philharmonic, and the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. She has had the privilege of being mentored by esteemed conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Marin Alsop, Jac van Steen, and Colin Metters.

    Oi Ching assisted Ryan Bancroft, Jac van Steen, and Clark Rundell with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Her achievements have also led to exclusive invitations, including participation in the prestigious Dartington Music Summer School and the Académie du Domaine Forget de Charlevoix.

    Born and raised in Hong Kong, Oi Ching earned her bachelor's degree in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University and completed her Master of Performance in Orchestral Conducting with Distinction at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the guidance of David Jones. She is also a student of the world-renowned conductor Jorma Panula at the Panula Academy.

    DOMINIC MOORE | Leader

    Dominic Moore is the leader of the New London Harmonia. He is also the leader of two professional chamber orchestras, St. George’s Chamber Orchestra resident at St. George’s Beckenham and the Buckingham-based, Alina Orchestra. He was previously acting leader of the orchestra for the West End production of Phantom of the Opera.  He has appeared as leader with the Ulster Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Presteigne Festival Orchestra, and Birmingham Royal Ballet.

    Dominic has recorded many soundtracks for film and TV, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Alien: Romulus, Spiderman: Kraven the Hunter, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, Doctor Who, Miss Marple, Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, and Poldark. He is also a busy teacher and directs the Advanced and Violin courses for Pro Corda, Europe’s leading chamber music school.

    In 2020, Dominic wrote Keep Fit for Violinists, a concise method for keeping in shape, both technically as a violinist and to keep muscles healthy, helping to enhance performance and to avoid strains and injuries. It was published the following year and has since been sold in 14 countries. It is available from keepfitviolin.com and Chimes Music, £1 for every copy sold is donated to the Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain, helping to support musicians whose lives have been affected by accident, illness, stress and anxiety.

    We are a mighty team of five who have worked the behind-the-scenes logistics for this orchestra to come to reality (also with the help of our amazing AD, Oi Ching).

    Though we hail from various day jobs from music to tech, NLH has been a passion project for us this year and we are immensely proud of the collective effort from this team and all of our orchestra members to make it to this point.
